Introduction to the Energy Engineering Department

The Energy Engineering Department was established at Ghazni Technical University in 2019 to contribute to the country's development, which is directly linked to energy. In 2020, 100 students from various provinces were admitted through the Kankor examination, marking the beginning of the department's academic journey. The following year, in 2021, the department recruited its first academic and professional faculty member, Candidate Teaching Assistant Eng. Zainullah Serat, thus commencing its professional activities and currently studying master's degree at HUST (Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in Wuhan City, China. In 2022, three additional academic members—Candidate Teaching Assistant Eng. Wahidullah Zgham, Candidate Teaching Assistant Eng. Sayed Ahmad Zamir Fatemi, and Candidate Teaching Assistant Eng. Safiullah Shirzad were recruited through an open competition. In 2024, Candidate Teaching Assistant Eng. Samiullah Popal joined the department, bringing the total number of academic members to five. The department also includes one laboratory technician.

Currently, the department is responsible for educating approximately 170 students. The curriculum covers various aspects of clean and renewable energy sources, including solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, and biomass energy. In addition, the department focuses on energy transmission and distribution, thermal energy, efficient energy use in buildings, and energy use and control in industrial settings.

Vision:

Training skilled professionals in the field of energy who can meet the standards of the region at the country and offering them to the society for service.

Mission:

Approaching our vision by the help of new energy related technologies and effective educational and research methods.

Objectives:

  • Offering skilled engineers to the society equipped with Islamic and national values in the field of energy.
  • Solving energy related difficulties of the society through conducting researches and offering services.
  • Investigating best utilization of the available national energy resources for economy development of the country.

Values:

  • Accepted national and international quality.
  • Respect of Islamic and Afghan sanctities.
  • Islamic and human morality and moral of service and patriotism.
  • Transparency and prevention of corruption.

Message from the head of the department

Years of war and conflict in Afghanistan have severely damaged the country's energy and other infrastructures. Considering today's energy needs, these infrastructures require fundamental work and skilled technical human resources. On the other hand, Afghanistan possesses abundant energy resources. In response to these challenges and opportunities, the Energy Engineering Department at the Electro-Mechanics Engineering Faculty of Ghazni Technical University is dedicated to graduating talented engineers who are well-versed in both Islamic and national values within the field of energy.

With the support of our esteemed expert lecturers, the department strives to become one of the leading energy engineering departments in the region. We hope our graduates from across the country will contribute significantly to the energy sector, helping to improve Afghanistan's academic and economic situation. On behalf of all the respected lecturers in the Energy Engineering Department, I warmly welcome the students to this field of study.

With regards,
